9 News Notes with Online Poll

Greetings Warrior Nation!

In today’s message I will cover four topics: new president introduction, key Warrior logistics, polling you for feedback, and a call for volunteers.

  1. It is with mixed emotion that I introduce myself as new president. I will be sad to see our friend Sam Wood go, but the Wood family has decided to focus on other endeavors besides basketball. We will miss Sam’s humor, approachability, and love for Krispy Kreme.  I was humbled when asked by Sam and the board to take on the role – and after a few days of prayerful consideration decided to take on an enhanced role on the board along side a group of great guys.  If you don’t know me, I (Rudy Guerrero) have been a board member and head coach for 3 years and a coach for 4.  I have an amazing wife and four kids, two of whom hoop at the lower levels (12u & 10u).
  2. Warrior Logistics. A) Registration will open by 8/21 latest – keep your eyes out via our Subscription email ping. If you know new families not using this, please forward this to them to “Subscribe to our News” at the bottom of our homepage.  B) Summer practice is in full swing and will continue until 8/25 prior to our annual Warrior September-pause before the season start in early October.  C) Next year’s practice schedule is partially nailed down.  We currently have M/T/W as options for Chapel Rock on the west side.  We are still trying to procure a Thursday facility as our goal would be a M/Th practice cadence.  If we cannot get a Thursday option, we will have to settle for either M/T or M/W – all being evening practices.
  3. Polling feedback.  In order to make a good decision we would like to hear from you.  We know back-to-back practices are not ideal when practicing twice a week (recovery, volume, etc.).  We know many churches and fellowships hold Wednesday evening as corporate or small group time (though this year we are hearing portions of those are being pushed to Sunday or stayed).  Please click this link and take the poll – if you could submit one vote per family that would be helpful.  We are not promising that we will select the one w/ the most votes – but rather inform the decision.  However, there would need to be strong reasons to not go w/ the majority vote.  Finally, the poll will be up for 48 hours as we are wanting to make expedient logistical commitments.
  4. Volunteers.  As we all know, none of what happens here is by chance and not a soul gets paid outside of blessing and emotional currency.  We need help in the following 4 areas: scheduling, fund raising, gear, and stats.  The scheduler would be in connection w/ other programs to ensure details are in sync and games are on the books.  Our current scheduler has done some work so our new one would have handoff guidance.  Fund raiser would focus on making connections w/ other groups to sponsor the NWW and in return get some marketing shine.  Gear liaison coordinates the logistics of our Warrior gear order and pick-up.  Stat coordinator would ideally be for every team level – so be thinking if you or a sharp youngling of yours has interest and let your coach know. If you have a strong passion around this and would like to head this up for the whole program, that would be super – please let us know.

I know that’s a lot to digest – but hopefully it helps you navigate the coming year.

Thank you so much for your time.

Rudy Guerrero
