Fort Wayne Tourney Info

Hello Warriors!! I’m passing on some info regarding this weekend’s tournament in Fort Wayne.

I know this is a costly event for families, so I appreciate your commitment and investment in these players. I’m confident it will be a good tournament and I highly encourage you to use this weekend as an opportunity to get to know other families in the program. So find time to hang out, share meals and cheer on other Warrior teams.

Courtside Manners

Ok, this one is from me, Brad Pettes, and it applies to ALL games and tournaments, not just FWGIT. And it applies to players, coaches and spectators alike.

Please be respectful of the referees, players, coaches and opponent spectators. Resist the urge to complain, argue, disparage, demean or slander anyone. Refs will make really bad calls, so just expect it. Offer them grace, as you have been offered it by our Father. When appropriate, Coaches will ask for clarification or humbly offer feedback. Right, coaches??  =)

Let us all strive for good sportsmanship. Help up those who fall. Please do not trash talk players or coaches, but instead play hard and let the game do the talking. When the game gets physical or emotions run high, do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. In the end, we are all on the same side and in the same family. There is ONE body, ONE spirit, ONE faith, ONE Lord, ONE baptism, and ONE God & Father of all.

Entrance Fees – CASH Only

Gate fees at FWGIT this year are PER DAY. Wrist bands will be sold for Friday, and a NEW wrist band will be required on Saturday. Fees are $5 for Senior/Student, $8 for Adult, and $20 for Family. Again, you will have to pay this each day in CASH. This is to cover the ever-increasing court and referee costs.

Location Guidance:

Game locations are on the free app here:

A note about First Assembly of God:

There is a TON of parking, but not all of it is close to the Gym Entrance that we are supposed to use.

Click here for a map of First Assembly with the correct entrance labelled.

Also, there is LIMITED SEATING around the court at First Assembly.  It sounds like there will only be one row of folding chairs around the court.  So, teams will NOT be able to enter the court until the previous game is over. There will be a waiting area for players and spectators to occupy.

Tie Breaker Rules:

With Pool play comes the possibility that there could be some ties after the games are completed.   Here are the tie breaker rules we will be using:

1.  Head to Head Matchup
2.  Total Points Allowed
3.  Total Points Scored
4.  Coin Flip
Quick Example:
Bulls 30, Cavs 15
Cavs 30, Pacers 20
Pacers 20, Bulls 10
All Teams are 1-1 in the Pool
Total Points Allowed:  Bulls 35, Cavs 50, Pacers 40
Bulls are #1
Start over on Head to Head Matchup now that two teams are vying for 2nd place.   Thus, since the Cavs beat the Pacers, the Cavs are #2 seed.
Final Seeding:   1. Bulls,   2. Cavs, 3. Pacers
That’s all, folks!

GO WARRIORS!!!
