About

The Northwest Sports Club is the original homeschool basketball organization in the Indianapolis area, founded in 1989 by Jack Baumgardner. The 2018-2019 season was their 30th year of lacing up and hitting the hardwood.  The Northwest Warrior club is organized to provide home-educated children (boys and girls) 10 years of age (as of September 1 of the current season) an opportunity to enjoy competitive basketball while developing Christian character, basketball skills, and physical fitness.  The Warriors offer five age levels for competitive basketball: 18 & under (Varsity), 16 & under (JV), 14 & under (Junior High), 12 & under, and 10 & under.

Age levels are all based on player age as of September 1st of the current season. Northwest is intended for home-educated children, and player eligibility coincides with the NCHBC National Tournament guidelines, which indicate that parents must be the primary facilitators of the player’s education including but not limited to classes at home, co-op environments, and other parent-arranged educational opportunities.

For additional information on the Northwest Warriors, please contact one of our coaches or the President of the Board.  The files at the bottom of this page include the club’s formal purpose, statement of faith, core values, and participant guidelines.

The Warriors play in the NCHBC National Tournament and are a member of the Indiana Christian Basketball Alliance, the NHBA, and the Midwest Christian Homeschool Conference:

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

  1. The Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the final authority for all matters of life.
  2. There is one God, triune – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. Man was created by the direct act of God on the 6th literal day of creation.
  4. Mankind is now sinful by nature and separated from God.
  5. Reconciliation is offered to man through the substitutionary death & resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
  6. Jesus is truly God and truly man. He took on flesh, was born of a virgin, died a physical death, and rose from the dead in bodily form.
  7. Those who repent of their sins and believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior will have eternal life.
  8. The Holy Spirit has a continuing, indwelling ministry by which Christians are able to live a godly life.
  9. There will be a day when all people stand before God and give account of their life.
  10. God has ordained parents as the primary authority over their children.

OUR CORE VALUES
Humility – Be teachable, Do not seek glory for yourself
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Philippians 2:3
Let another praise you and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips. Proverbs 27:2
Walk humbly with the Lord. Micah 6:8
Passion – Commit to excellence, Be disciplined
Do you not know that in the race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way to get the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23
Unity – Team first, Do not divide our house
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. Mark 3:24
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity. Psalm 133:1
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:14
Servanthood – Be aware of others’ needs and seek to help, Make those around you better
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:4-7
Thankfulness – Be grateful in every circumstance
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present you request to God. Philippians 4:6
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
